Cost vs. Value Report 2020
Cost vs. Value is created from professional remodelers’ reports and is meant to show how much a project costs when the customer hires a pro. This report can be customized for the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.
A true custom home requires a personalized relationship with your builder. Building a custom home is an investment of your time and money. There is the cost of the land itself, the permitting, and the excavation or grading before you can break ground. Finally, there is the actual cost to construct, allowance for upgrades, and landscaping the property. Depending on the size and complexity of your home and the unpredictable weather, your custom build could take anywhere from seven to sixteen months to complete. We will custom craft a home experience specifically tailored to fit your unique needs and expectations. We will also ensure that your new home and/or renovation is everything you wanted and more.
We install many different window styles which include but are not limited to; double hung, casement, sliding, awning, picture, bay and bow. We also install doors. Entry doors consist of wood, fiberglass or steel. Both options have a foam core which prevents heat or air from escaping from your entryway. Unlike wood doors, both steel and fiberglass are resistant to warping, rotting and expanding. Storm doors protect your entry doors from rain, snow, hail and heavy winds. The added layer of insulation also improves your homes energy efficiency. Patio doors allow more light and fresh air into your home. Whether they are sliding or French opening, their foam insulated frames also improve energy efficiency.
Siding, no matter what material, has two basic functions. The first function is to protect your home from outside elements like rain, snow, hail or ice. There are other elements protecting your home, but it is the first barrier to entry. The second function of home siding is design. Your home needs a common and aesthetic exterior. Siding gives it that collective feel we all desire. The most common type of siding is vinyl. It comes in many colors and is one of the most durable types available. It is also easy to maintain. Wooden siding is very durable with a more rustic look. However, one of the drawbacks is that wooden siding can rot and damage quite easily. Therefore, it requires a lot more maintenance and can be quite expensive. Aluminum siding tends to be the cheapest option. Fiber-cement siding is the most environmentally friendly. It is very durable and can be painted.
A fireplace is a major focal point in a home. It enhances spaces with tradition or sophistication. Traditional fireplaces with beefy mantes and logs are still popular, but a growing number of homeowners are adding sophistication to their homes by installing modern fireplaces. They are refined, luxurious, and unique. With their simplistic lines and fire features, they are placed on a wall like a piece of art. Both styles offer warmth and coziness. Traditional fireplaces can be customized by utilizing wood and natural or custom stone for the mantels and surrounds. Exquisite decorative trim may also be added.
Remodel and improve. A bathroom remodel should make your bathroom more efficient, more functional and more stylish. Developing a floor plan is largely dictated by its current layout since many services are difficult or expensive to move. However, if the bathroom floor plan does not work and if the budget allows for it, items can be moved around. Shower and tub replacements give you more durable and stylish units that are much easier to clean. A tub to shower conversion replaces an unused bathtub with a versatile shower. Walk-in tubs and showers make bathing safer for everyone. The use of natural stone in a shower is largely about appearance. It looks great on shower walls, ceilings, and floors, as well as on the floor outside the shower. The stone must be sealed regularly, and it can be difficult to clean if it’s highly textured or has wide grout lines. Bathroom flooring must be moisture resistant and attractive at the same time. Ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone, luxury vinyl flooring, sheet vinyl, and vinyl tile are favored bathroom flooring materials due to their water resistance. The bathroom counter and its base cabinets, along with the installed sink, are at the center of bathroom activity. Premium countertops included quartz engineered stone, natural stone, and solid surface. Below the countertop may be a vanity cabinet for storage. Visit the Dakota Kitchen and Bath Company’s link to view the cabinetry options available. If space is at a premium, consider installing a pedestal sink instead of the vanity cabinet. Paint the walls in a satin or semi-gloss paint to protect against moisture.
Installing beautiful floors is a great way to update your home with a new look. There are several things to consider when choosing a new floor. The climate of your home may cause hardwood and laminate floors to buckle and warp when faced with high humidity. A porcelain tile wood look or a vinyl plank would be a better choice for humid climate environments. Bathrooms and kitchens are high moisture areas and will need a flooring that will not buckle or warp when faced with water. Lifestyle is another important factor to consider when choosing a floor. Kids, pets, hobbies and high foot traffic areas will need a more durable flooring that will stand the test of time. Don’t choose a flooring that is a “trendy product” that will go out of style in several years. Choose a flooring that will give you a return on your investment and that you will continue to love in the future. Radiant Renovations installs natural stone, porcelain tile and hardwood flooring. We have installed all-natural kiln dried wood floors purchased directly from Weiland & Son’s Lumber Company. Weiland & Son’s Lumber Company specializes in milling rough sawn lumber into beautiful flooring. Many different wood species are available in a variety of widths to choose from.
Remodeling your kitchen is a great investment for any homeowner. In addition to creating a beautiful, functional work place to cook delicious meals, entertain guests, and spend family time, a kitchen remodel offers a high return rate in the real estate market. Minor remodels aim to preserve the kitchen’s existing footprint while refreshing its overall appearance and usability. New countertops, kitchen sink and faucet, new flooring and freshly painted walls are common within a minor kitchen remodel. A major remodel usually consists of an entire kitchen transformation. New semi-custom to custom cabinetry, countertops, lighting, flooring, freshly painted walls and appliances are typically included in a major kitchen remodel. Upscale kitchen remodels usually include specialty or luxury additions. The original kitchens footprint may be altered. Upscale items may include custom cabinetry with built-in sliding shelves and custom interior accessories. Stone countertops with stone, ceramic or glass backsplash. Technologically advanced or commercial appliances. Under-mount sink with designer faucet and water filtration system. New general and task lighting, such as under cabinet lights. Installing upscale flooring such as hardwood, natural stone or ceramic and freshly painted walls. We can install cabinetry from any manufacture. We are a dealer of the Dakota Kitchen and Bath Company products. Their Dimensions and Custom Crafted cabinetry are offered in a wide variety of wood species. Custom stain / color match and paint finishes are available.
A laundry room is likely not the most favorite part of your house. However, if you have a family, you likely spend a lot of time in it. There is no standard laundry room size, shape or layout. Often these utility spaces are created in awkward leftover spaces, basements or garages. The first step in remodeling a laundry room needs to be the planning of its functions. Many laundry rooms are also used to store excess items like batteries to a flashlight, paper towels and dog food. They may also be used to store vacuum cleaners, brooms and/or mops and sports gear. A complete remodel may consist of rerouting the plumbing and venting to build an entirely new room. Simple updates may include new cabinetry, counter tops and appliances. Explore the Dakota Kitchen and Bath Company cabinetry products by utilizing their attached link. Shelving may be used to break up heavy cabinetry. A drying rack, hanging rod, or built in iron board are additional options. The installation of a window to bring in natural light will allow the room to look and feel larger. Finish the project by spiffing things up with fresh paint or wallpaper, tile and accessories.
Painting is one way to give a home’s interior or exterior new life while retaining the integrity of the home. Prep-work is the key to success. This prep work may include; removing and re-installing of curtain rods, window latches, switch plates and cover plates, door knobs, and thermostats. Removing debris, scrapping off cracked, bubbling or peeling paint, patching and sanding repaired walls and properly removing lead paint. Homes built before 1978 may have paint with lead in it. Radiant Renovations is a certified / licensed lead paint renovator. We are able to properly test and remove lead paint from a job site. Once the prep work is finished, an exterior of a house is pressure washed to clean it so a primer can be applied. Choose the right paint for your façade. Stucco, wood, brick, vinyl, aluminum, and fiber cement all require different materials to be used.
A garage door replacement is a wise investment if you’re looking for an affordable project that will improve your homes curb appeal and increase its resale value.
